PENICUIK YMCA/YWCA LATEST UPDATE Our two floodlit Astroturf Courts at Queensway, opened by local sports personalities in August 2015, are available for community use for football, tennis and hockey. Seasonal or sessional bookings by clubs, groups or individuals are welcomed. Courts are available Mon – Fri 10.00 to 21.00 and Sat/Sun 10.00 to 16.00. For bookings outside these times at weekends, please enquire.  This high quality addition to Penicuik’s sports facilities is already developing the school-to-community club links – a major aim of the Community Sport Hub. The Y also has excellent indoor facilities for Karate, Tae Kwon Do, Badminton, Table Tennis and fitness training; as well as meetings, seminars, parties and soft play. Contact Penicuik Y at 51 Queensway on 01968 674851, E-mail or visit PENICUIK ATHLETIC FC UPDATE June 2016 Penicuik Athletic win the Fife & Lothians Cup CLICK HERE to read Penicuik Athletic’s latest update in the Penicuik Athletic Bi-Monthly Newsletter.    ULTIMATE STORM CHEER Ultimate   Storm   Cheer   are   in   final   preparations   for   the   start   of   our   competition   seasons   which   kicks   off   on                                   20   February   at   Meadowbank   Stadium   for   the   Regional   Championships.      Two   weeks   after   the   team   are heading   to   Blackpool   for   the   European   regionals.      The   full   team   will   be   entering   in   8   different   divisions encompassing   gymnastics,   stunts,   dance   and   hip   hop.     The   final   2   competitions   of   the   season   are   in   June   in Glasgow    and    then    the    European    finals    in    Liverpool    where    the    team    are    working    on    retaining    their championship titles in a number of divisions. PENICUIK ATHLETIC JFC UPDATE After eighteen games of the thirty game league programme, Penicuik Athletic are lying in sixth place in the sixteen team East Region Super League. In their second season in the Super League after being promoted from the Premier League in 2014, Penicuik reached the top of  the tightly contested league for the first ever time after twelve games but a run of indifferent results has seen them drop down the table currently headed by Bonnyrigg Rose. Penicuik’s Scottish Junior Cup campaign came to an early end in Dundee in the third round with a defeat by Lochee United. However, an interest is still maintained in both the East of Scotland Cup and the Fife and Lothians Cup. Pumpherston Juniors will visit Penicuik Park in the second round of the Fife and Lothians Cup with the winners scheduled to welcome the winners of the tie between Dalkeith Thistle and Rosyth. In the second round of the East of Scotland Cup, a trip to Falkirk awaits to play against Camelon Juniors. Dates have not been allocated for these matches yet but details will appear on the club’s web site in due course. The club is currently looking for volunteers to help out on match days and with pitch repairs and maintenance after home games. Some of our committee attended the presentation at Hibernian Football Clubs Easter Road stadium on Saturday to receive our award. This has all been shared through our website, Facebook page and Twitter account. I will forward an email with our press release. Also the SFA supported ten week long Midnight League programme begins this Friday at Penicuik Park Astro, where 12 to 16 year olds can come along and play free football between 8 and 9.30pm.
